Pick me up, throw me into the sea, the sea will be mitigated and did not attack you again. For I know that because I am in this severe storm. (Jonah 1:12)
Reading the Bible in a Year:
1 Corinthians 1-4
Got a bad boy, really annoying. Already know to be wrong, but still desperate. It seemed exasperated once! When still a child, we can still understand. But, if you've grown up and become a prophet of God?
The prophet Jonah actually aware of having escaped from calling task. He also realized God was angry at him, until the raging sea and the whole board the ship almost perished because of him. Instead of repenting, Jonah even desperate. He asked that the crew threw it into the ocean raging, that the storm subsided.
Jonah consciously resist the power of God who demands obedience, because God commands it against his will. As a servant of God, Jonah bias fails to fulfill the task of calling. However, God, who calls and select it, is God who patiently and faithfully. He never fails and despair facing ignorance Jonah (v. 17).
Is not the act of Jonah also reflects our attitude? How often we are not faithful and run away from the call to obey His commands? Not because we do not know His will, but because we consciously ignore His voice. In fact, he whispered softly in our conscience, that we faithfully serve sesame still living in sin. Admonish, guide, lead them patiently, that they may live in repentance and righteousness. However we often prefer the pursuit of pleasure and his own interests rather than ignoring the interests of others. Let's turn! Useless we run and get away from Him. -SST
