Reading the Bible in a Year:
Acts 9-10

Doug Storer wrote a true story, titled Savior on the banks of the Seine. Here is the story in a nutshell. One night a young man walking alone on the banks of the River Seine. He was in despair. During the 25 years of his life, adversity came insistently. From childhood he lived in poverty. At the age of teens, his mother had to rush as refugees to France. Then he managed to get into the armed forces. His star rose. However, there was political infighting, and he was on the losing side. He was arrested and then fired. At that time he wanted to drown in the river. Apparently, his former friend in the army appeared. The friend listened to his complaints and help him. The meeting was a turning point for the young man's life. And, the young man is none other than Napoleon Bonaparte.

Jesus demonstrated and exemplified the figure of a good friend when he lived with his disciples. He became a friend of Simon Peter, when Simon was desperate for night fishing (Lk. 5: 6). He also helped the students, when their ship nearly foundered because of the storm (Mk. 4:39).

Each of us would have companions. When we take the time to help a friend or a friend of us in their distress, we imitate our Lord who frees people from the storms of life. Let us be friends as well as possible, which can relieve the distress and multiply the excitement of friends us.-GIE

When we abound with love of the Savior,
Our lives would be a blessing to the companions.
