Magic Grace - In comparative religion at the UK conference, experts debated the uniqueness of the Christian faith. Incarnation? Resurrection? Other religions have a similar version. The debate lasted until C.S. Lewis entered the room. "What's the fuss?" He asked. Once described, Lewis replied, "Oh, that's easy. That is grace. "
After discussion, the conference participants agreed. The idea of the love of God is shed for us free of charge and with no strings attached seems contrary to human thought. Religious teachings generally emphasize that we must do good in order to be acceptable by Allah. In contrast, only Christianity that dare to say that God loves us unconditionally.
The story is told by Philip Yancey in What's So Amazing About Grace it confirms a miracle of God's grace. God save us without demanding payment, but gave it freely. There's nothing we can do to earn salvation.
Then, how do we receive it? "For by grace are ye saved through faith" (v. 8). What is faith? Faith is a "fix our eyes on Jesus" (Heb. 12: 2). Jesus who provided salvation for us. He is our Savior, Giver of eternal life, our death Lieu, Mediator, and the everlasting King. When we receive His grace, He becomes our salvation, which arouse our faith and keep it until the end. -DKR
