Leaders and Commitment to Reform

"Therefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be buried in a grave in peace, and your eyes will not see all the evil that I will bring upon this place."

II Kings 22: 1-20

Leaders and Commitment to Reform - The kingdom of Judah fell into idolatry over the 57 years since Hezekiah died / reign of Josiah's father and grandfather. Josiah reigned as king of Judah to 16 for 31 years (640-609 BC), 23 years before this kingdom disappeared by the Babylonian king to the king at the age of 20. Being a pre-teen on hard times / severe spiritual and moral decline is certainly not easy. The most likely thing is to blame the previous leader, the led and the situation. However, young Josiah gave us an outstanding example. Mentioned in article 22 that the renewal journey starts from himself and take place as follows:

Build a personal commitment to live in obedience to God like David his father (verse 2). He did not turn to the right and to the left.
Starting a spiritual rehabilitation of the house of God with priests (vv 3-7). That's when the law of Moses has long been lost rediscovered, and was read to the king (vv 8-10).
Tore clothes / sign of mourning and sorrow for sin personally (v 11) and asked for God's guidance through the prophetess Huldah (v 12 ff) that Judah national reconstruction.
Starting a spiritual restoration much more difficult than damaging Judah. Nevertheless, this commitment is greatly appreciated God. Through Huldah the Lord promises peace and comfortable for Josiah's death (vv 19-20). Judgment on Judah still ongoing, but Josiah did not experience it and keep reigning national to make corrections.

No work sterile world of sin, perhaps we work in offices / agencies full of sinful acts. If we're in charge of a team / unit with the already messy situation, remember that there is always hope with God. The key is the commitment to begin recovery of ourselves first. Further follow-up in accordance wisdom of God. If we do not enjoy the improvement that our part in God's plan has paid off because maybe God used someone else continue.

Inspiration: Every leader faced with the choice, start with God and enjoying the peace, or self-reliance and disappointed.

Moment of Inspiration.
