As the deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. (Psalm 42: 2)
Reading the Bible in a Year:
Genesis 49-50
Yearns for God - In college, my parents came home every weekend. Close friends, landlady friendly and kind, even tasks that accumulate campus did not dampen the desire to meet with the family. One week is not met seem so long. As beautiful and complete as any facilities out there, the most beautiful place for me remain in the family.
The psalmist also experienced a strong longing. Singer Levite of the sons of Korah who were in exile feel isolated spiritually. He longed for God as if not immediately answer the call. He felt isolated because no longer physically able to lead the race with thanksgiving in the house of God. He was socially isolated because an enemy who continues to mock, "Where is your God?"
The psalmist feel depressed and anxious. He recalled his past filled with joy when leading the people into the house of God, given the mercy of God, and perseverance in prayer. Memories that made him remember the loyalty and enjoyment of God. He also continued to encourage myself to look forward to God and beg Him for help.
What about us? Is there a longing for God's vibrations we feel? Is God's goodness and faithfulness in the past makes us always hope in Him? Is there goodness of God encourages us to increasingly miss him and realize that without Him we can not survive? Let's draw near to God is more than just invoke the freedom of every struggle! -EBL
Our longing for God shows the magnitude of our faith in Him.
