False Pride - There are many reasons why we are proud of ourselves. Because children succeed in their studies; For a husband or wife who is successful in the work; since we received the award. Pride reasonable. But it would be the wrong thing when pride that makes us proud and began to put others down.
The Edomites prides itself with several things, among others feel themselves wise (v. 8) and strong hero (v. 9). They also regard themselves as strong and invincible because they live in the highlands or mountainous regions (vv. 3-4). The Edomites were proud of their before Judah (the rest of the Israelites who remained in the land of their inheritance) when Judah was devastated, not when Judah was still in a state of peace (vv. 12-13). Such pride is in fact bringing ruin to the nation. Not elevated, they even lowered!
A source of pride just giving ourselves to God alone. But we should keep careful not arrogant because of the things they boast. When we look around us, people who may not be as fortunate as we are, are we then feel better than they? May we be kept away from such behavior. Instead, let us learn to be humble and to channel the grace of God to help those around us. -SYS
Pride without humility will come to ruin, not prosperity.
