One he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability, and he went. (Matthew 25:15)
A year Bible reading:
Numbers 19-20
To Be Fair - When I traveled rafting in Bali, travel service providers charge a different price for local travelers and foreign tourists. For local tourists, I pay less. I am of course happy, but curious, why foreign tourists must pay more? It turns out, though foreign tourists have to pay higher prices, when calculated in the currency of their home country, the price they pay is actually still relatively reasonable. So, even if the price paid is different, everyone pays according to their ability. Fair.
We used to think, is fair is if other people get the same thing with what I got. We used to think, is fair is if others do the same with what I do. That is why, if we find differences, it is easy to think, this is not fair. In fact, the fair does not mean everything should be equal. Consider the parable Jesus extend. There he that had received five talents, two talents, even one talent. Though different, each receives according to his ability (v. 15). This is the actual fair.
Any we receive, let us always keep our heart. Do not be offended if we receive a little. What we receive according to our ability. Instead, be arrogant if we receive a lot. Everyone who much is given, will be demanded. Everyone who was entrusted, even more will be demanded (Luke 12:48). -OK S
Fair it is not simply divided equally, but are divided according to ability.
