We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; the night cometh in which no man can work. (John 9: 4)
Reading the Bible in a Year:
Revelation 3-5
Chance - At the Christmas season, Mike-homeless in Atlanta helped us gather his friends to receive Christmas gifts and eating together. The next Christmas, our church held a similar social action, but we had trouble collecting homeless because Mike has been moved.
We distribute food, clothing, and blankets on them in the rain and cold. In a narrow street, we saw the soles of the feet were half covered by a wet blanket. We opened it and was shocked, "Hi Mike, apparently you! Um, you're drunk, or sick? "Mike just reached out, received our package, and then re-cover the face. We thought he was embarrassed. So we just gave him an extra blanket, then left with the greeting, "Merry Christmas, Mike, Jesus loves you." A month later we heard, Mike died on Christmas Day. We grieve and feel guilty about the time we left it too fast. Maybe Mike is sick and need help.
The disciples of Jesus never argue about who is guilty in the case of a man born blind. That man or his parents? Jesus said, "I must work the works of him as long as it is day, will come in the night, in which no man can work." When there is time to act, do it immediately. For it is when we want to do something, but the chance was gone. It's time to do something-for child, husband, wife, parents, siblings, or friends. And, especially for the glory of God. -SST
