Actions and Risks - Nelson Mandela in South Africa, William Wilberforce in England, Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States-they are examples of leaders who dare to act and to take risks in a changing world. On the other hand, not a few people who do not do anything for fear of the risks to be faced.
Ester facing complicated situation. He could be sentenced to death because it is directly facing the king without being summoned. However, Esther was willing to take this important action, and said, "If I perish, I perish" (v. 16b). Ester focuses on the challenge of Mordecai to protect their nation and to seek justice. Both guys have confidence and firm faith in God when faced with challenges. Their actions also have a wide impact. Throughout the story of Esther implied the existence and sovereignty of God and His real participation through action expressed by Esther and Mordecai.
What about us? In our work, our service, our life, it is very relevant. Already, we are invited to take action in the broader plan of God. Although we may have to bear the risk of fatal for such actions, dare we still stepped up and said, "If I perish, I perish"? Are we confident that God will give us wisdom and courage when we lean on Him? -LCM
