The Our Father in Heaven

"Therefore pray ye: Our Father in heaven."

Matthew 6: 5-15

The Our Father in Heaven - The Lord's Prayer is a prayer that many times I say. I say it every time in church because the church we put it in the liturgy of worship weeks. I often ask people to say this prayer when I was given the opportunity to lead a prayer together. Since childhood I've memorized this prayer never even use it when told to pray eat.

The prayer Jesus taught His disciples this should be an important lesson and a model for us to pray. At a time when Jesus had finished praying, a student said, "Lord, teach us to pray" that Jesus taught this prayer (Luk.11: 1-2). Jesus taught us to address our prayers only to the Father who is in heaven and not on the dead, ancestors, saints or angels. He also taught us to glorify the Father before delivering confession, thanksgiving and supplication us.

Jesus taught us begin our prayers by saying, "Our Father which art in heaven". What is the meaning of this phrase? First, by calling the Father, we are taught to remember our relationship with Him is the relationship with the child's father. Father give good to everyone who asks Him (Mat.7: 11). Second, by calling our Father, we are taught to pray with / for others as well as live role in communion with one another. It also reminds us of the position of all the believers who was appointed as the children of God in Jesus Christ. Third, by calling our Father in heaven, we are taught to be amazed at holiness, majesty, love, kingdom, power and glory of God, and distinguish him from the father of our physical world.

Inspiration: The main prayer is not to pass the request but grovel in the presence of the Holy Father.

Moment of Inspiration.
