Luke 6: 17-19
Sensitive To The Voice of God - After Jesus prayed and chose 12 disciples of His essence, they came down from the hill to a flat area to serve. It turned out there had already gathered a large number of other students as well. Not mentioned here how many pupils Jesuses, and many people came from Judea, Jerusalem, Tyre and Sidon. And he was located around the lake of Gennesaret (Luke 5: 1) near Capernaum; and if we look at a map of the Bible, Tyre and Sidon goodly distance from the venue, let alone Jerusalem. But the crowds were ignored pretty much mileage it just to meet Jesus. So we can see here how big the influence of Jesus to people in Israel and around it at the time.
They came to hear him and to be healed ... (v 18a). In this section we look at the first one mentioned that people had come to 'listen to him.' Surely the teaching of Jesus is not just ordinary words alone, but his teachings are words of wisdom that is extraordinary is the word of God in power so that people would listen to him speak, and they had the consolation true. And even his words can heal people not only from physical illness / physical, but spiritual disease (sin) as well. Herein lies the difference between Jesus and other people who, when speaking. Even people who are possessed by spirits jahatpun cured. In verse 19, it was noted that just by touching Jesus alone, people cured of all diseases. Wow amazing! Why? Because Jesus is God! He is sovereign over the heavens and the earth and its contents including the above powers and also above any human life, He is sovereign over sickness and over everything. No one can match him!
What about us as people who believe in the Lord Jesus? Do we give priority to 'listen' He is to read God's word and do it, or we just put miracles or blessings of His? May the God's Word helps us to prioritize 'listen to' the voice of the Lord Jesus through our personal quiet time each day to read and meditate on His Word and the first to observe and obey; miracles and blessings will follow. Amen!
