Hosea 5: 8-15
Repent - Hosea began his ministry at the end of the reign of Jeroboam II. At that time Israel was experiencing economic prosperity and political stability for the time which creates a false sense of security. But as soon as the king Jeroboam II died (753 BC), the circumstances of the nation began to deteriorate and degenerate.
As a prophet he knows the current state of the ostensibly prosperous, but the Israelites away from God and spiritual decline, they commit idolatry and a life of wickedness. Through these circumstances Hosea warned Israel to repent by:
Pleaded guilty. Earnestly realized his mistake, that what was done was not pleasing to God (sin).
Seek God's face. Not just the habit of prayer / worship, but wholeheartedly seek and strive to meet the Lord.
Missed God. Longing comes from the heart, not a ritual of worship, but a deep desire to God.
Turned to the Lord. With awareness leaving all the disgusting sin and back to God.
Why does Israel have to do all that? Because God wants a conversion that is real, not pretending. Earnest repentance will produce a recovery. In other words, although God pounce, but the cure; although hit but wrap and turn. Hence as His chosen people, let us sincerely conscious and repent, He certainly appears like the dawn, He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rains that water the earth (6: 3).
Inspiration: Seek to know God and the faithful, it were better than pretend repentance.
Moment of Inspiration.
