Luke 6: 1-5
Jesus More Than Tradition - People who live in the time of Jesus are always confronted with tradition, so all daily activities should be based on the rules that apply in the local tradition. Therefore, Jesus is often framed by the Pharisees with questions about Jewish tradition.
In our reading, the Pharisees tried to judge the disciples were plucking and eating grain on the Sabbath (v 1.2). But at that moment Jesus as Master (Master) of these students, defended the disciples His convey the Word of God where David went into the house of the Lord and ask the priest Ahimelech to provide bread dish to him and his followers who are starving, when The bread could be eaten only by priests (v 3.4; bd 1 Samuel 21: 1-6). Why did David not punished at that time? Because they know who David was, the one who anointed the Lord. He occupies a special place in Israel at that time. God allow David unlawful tradition but not the moral law without being judged. In this case the position of David over the law. Therefore the Son of man which is higher than David, has the right to override the traditions of the Pharisees to the welfare of his followers.
Are you being bound by traditions that bring you further away from God? Makes you no longer give priority to the Word of God, contrary to underestimate the Word of God that may have been submitted by people with love will help you? Remember, Jesus is much higher than traditions and rules anywhere in the world. Return to Him and follow His commandments faithfully and full obedience.
Inspiration: I appreciate the prevailing tradition in my area, but I do not want to compromise with the tradition that is clearly opposed to God and His Word.
