If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1: 9)

Reading a year: Ezekiel 29-32

In the book How to Live 365 Days a Year, John Schindler wrote, "Three of the four hospital beds are occupied by people suffering from emotional disorders." He concludes, "Emotional stress today is the number one cause of disease." Then, what stress itself? One that stands out is the sense of guilt and a feeling of not being forgiven.
God's Word promises freedom from both stressors that. Why not! If we confess sin, God will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (v. 9).
The question is: What is meant by "confess"? I used to interpret it as a prayer mentions a list of my sin, regret, repent, ask for forgiveness, and promise not to repeat them. Instead of experiencing relief, I tend to become depressed.
Until I discovered that the word 'confess', homologeo, it can mean to say the same thing or to agree. Acknowledging sin, therefore, meant to agree a statement of God about our sin. We agreed that we sin. Then, we agree on the way of God to overcome sin. In Christ, God our sins once and for all (Heb. 7: 24-27). He decided to no longer remember our sins and transgressions (Heb. 8:12, 10:17). Instead, His grace teaches us to live in godliness (Tit. 2: 11-13).
Is not that the truth of liberty? Let us admit it-agree! -ARS

RECOGNITION OF SIN IS NOT MENTION OF OUR SINS, BUT GOD RESOLVED STATEMENT REGARDING OUR SINS
