The Lord sent a great wind into the sea, and there was a big storm, that the ship threatened to break. (Jonah 1: 4)
Reading the Bible in a Year:
Genesis 13-15
Your Disobedience - A Javanese proverb says: "Children doings, kepradah father." That is, if a child conduct problems, parents usually have to bear the consequences. Not only harmed himself, but others could get resin.
God sent a great storm at sea to convince Jonah, so he returned to obey His call. However, Yunus hardened his heart, he still escaped from his calling. He does not care. He dropped to the bottom of the ship and fell asleep in it (v. 5). As a result of Jonah's disobedience, which threatened not only their own lives but also the lives of all the sailors on the ship with him.
God has chosen and saved us by the sacrifice of Christ, who was willing to die on the cross. The main purpose of the gift of salvation was not for our personal enjoyment only, ie go to heaven someday. No! You and I redeemed by Christ, so that we become a new man. Then we can partner with God, to proclaim the gospel. Namely, that God so loved the world, and bring Jesus Christ to redeem all men are sinners. The testimony of our lives, either through speech or real action, will help other people come to believe in Christ.
When we are away from Him, reject His call, and only lived to pursue his own pleasure, beware! For our disobedience can also be consequences for those around us, even families and our children. -SST
Obedience to bless many people, disobedience harm to others as well.
