The Totality Of Elijah - When the Prophet Elijah threw his mantle to Elisha that ploughing, Elisha the Prophet knows it's being called her for a special service. He also did a radical action: say goodbye to family, a pair of oxen, slaughtered and cooked it with the wood of his plough. He also followed Elijah and became his servants. He is being groomed to become the Prophet of God for Israel.
This action Elisa shows a totality. He did not plan to return to her old profession someday. He followed the Prophet Elijah. Humility his heart too real through willingness and loyalty becomes a servant for Elijah. After Elijah was taken up to heaven, Elisha became a faithful Messenger of God's Word to his people in all his life, until he died (2 Raj 13:20).
The call to follow and serve the Lord actually applies to all persons, even if not everyone is called to become the servant of all time. However, we are all learning from the totality of Elisa in following and serving the Lord. Indeed, we are all called to glorify God through the various professions that we undertake. May the totality we can inspire other people so that they too are increasingly motivated to follow and serve the Lord faithfully. — HT
