God saw Hearts

"People see what is in front of the eyes, but the Lord looks at the heart."

1 Samuel 16: 1-13

God saw Hearts - In a situation of mourning, Samuel received new orders from the Lord to anoint a new king for Israel. Samuel feared Saul determines the plan. God also instructed Samuel to hold sacrificial ceremonies so that it can be stated right in front of the elders. God also led Samuel to find the person chosen in the family of Jesse which will be king after Saul. What was experienced by Samuel is giving a lesson to us that God help the person who assigned her to give wisdom to carry out the task. Just like Samuel, our task is obedient to do what God commanded.

With God's guidance Samuel finally find a leader that is determined by God to replace Saul namely David. David was a shepherd of sheep and the youngest child in the family of Jesse. It does not make sense shepherd the flock will be king in Israel. But God had a right choice even though different from human view because it is not what is seen as man sees because people see what is in front of the eyes, but the Lord looks at the heart (verse 7). Therefore, the requirements to become a spiritual leader is his heart toward God. Humans often judge others based on what is visible or on the outside, so we are often fooled someone.

David was anointed king by the time the power of the Holy Spirit on him, give him the wisdom to act in implementing its tasks. Is not every person who believes in Jesus, the Holy Spirit dwells in his heart? Therefore, every person whose heart is focused on God, the Holy Spirit will give wisdom to carry out his duties.
