Faith and Deeds

Romans 4: 1-25

"For what does the Scripture say? 'Abraham believed God, and take into account it to him for righteousness "(Romans 4: 3)

Faith and Deeds - Which do you believe of the two following verse:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast "(Ep 2: 8-9).
"O vain man, wilt thou know, that faith without works is an empty faith?" (James 2:20)
The second paragraph above seems contradictory but in fact not the case. Paul spoke of the grace of God that we must have faith as a basis before doing any good deed. On the other hand, James presented the obedience of Abraham who proved his faith through deeds. Paul sees the fundamental root that is faith; James looks at the fruit it produces is the act.

Faith and deeds are inseparable. Both Paul and James talk about both. Paul speaks of deeds after talking about faith (Ep 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works"). James began his letter with emphasis on faith is the basis for good works (James 1: 3 "because you know that the testing of your faith produces patience"). If we only focus on one of faith or works then it means we ignore the others. Both are important for our life's journey with God. Just to illustrate short: when I was little, we firmly believe in the affection of parents and we love doing anything fun parents. So it is our relationship with the Father. Faith in His grace motivates us to do things that are pleasing to Him. In other words, good deeds are the manifestation of our faith in Him.
