Exodus 19: 1-11
In Old Testament times, God is not arbitrary can be found by his people. There are strict rules that are set to meet with God. Only certain people (Priest, Prophet, etc.) are allowed. God is very angry if someone dared to lack of respect for the rules. (1 Sam 13: 11-14).
Our reading today, speaking neighbor specific rules that must be done when His people will meet the Lord. The rule set is not to introduce that our Lord was very frightening, but God is a God who deserve respectful of His people as He is the Lord (3). Let us compare, when the president will meet with his people, the officials will be very busy preparing the people to be met, so that when the president met with them in appropriate conditions in all aspects (place, clothes, attitude, etc.). Moreover encounter with God?
In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus is our High Priest, has sanctified us completely by the shedding of blood, so that we bring up to standard gained access by faith to meet the Lord in the throne of the Most Holy (Hebrews 4: 14-16). However, that does not mean we can meet the Lord in vain. Instead, we must have the preparation / the more serious attitude when he met with him.
Meet the Lord has three aspects, namely:
God longs says (9-11). God is a Person. He also longs known, respected and loved more accurate and true through the understanding of the Word.
God also missed the expression of our love (8). Do we express admiration, respect and love when I see God?
God demands our commitment (v.5).
Is a funny thing when two people who love one another without a commitment. Let us came up with the right attitude.
