For sin shall not reign over you, because you are not under law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14)
Reading the Bible in a Year:
Genesis 25-27
Life in the Torah - My first girlfriend first lady I knew in the church. Because it has not had the experience, our relationship was built on a "must-not" and "should". We made a list of what can and can not and obligations that must be done. When one of us there were in violation of the agreement, the inevitable commotion. Our relationship was tense and fragile.
The same thing without us knowing it happened in our relationship with God. We live our relationship with God is based on the "duty". We think, "I must pray daily, read so many chapters of the Bible, went to church, otherwise he will get angry and do not bless me." We are under the law, and not under grace. Such relationships tiring, because it focuses on efforts to please Him in our own strength. In fact, until whenever we will never be able to please Him by our efforts or make him bless us for our deeds.
That's why Jesus came and fulfilled the law (Matt. 5:17), so that we can escape from the yoke of the law and live in His grace. Grace means God accepts us by the redemptive work of Christ, not our efforts. So what we need to do? Stop trying to please God by our own efforts; on the contrary, be thankful because he has pleased us. His grace that will teach and enable us to live according to His truth. -dP
God do not base our relationship with the Torah, but on grace.
