He went into the whole area of Jordan, preaching: "Repent and be baptized, and God will forgive your sins .."
John delivered his prophetic voice without compromise, is not afraid of being rejected, not afraid of people offended, boldly communicate God's truth. All of us are called to duty and devotion are different. So we have to say appropriate to the needs of others. Let us see what is the message of today's readings:
1. Because of the blindness of the human heart, John boldly told the crowd that came to him "brood of vipers" and asked who was able to flee from the wrath to come? ('7). This means do not want to use the devil to become criminals and clever in deceiving. We must care for those who are perishing (2 Timothy 4: 2), admonish those who are undisciplined (1 Thessalonians 5: 14).
2. Show the world that we really have repented. Should dare to show the fruits of real life, both in mind (idea-de brilliant), said the words and behavior integrity. If it does not bear the fruit of repentance that God is ready to give judgment ('8-'9). "... Even in old age even they still bear fruit ..." (Psalm 92: 15).
3. Do earnestly what we already know: sharing with the poor, not a blackmailer, not corruption, honest do not do violence to others in the household (husband, wife, children, servants, etc.). Learning content with what you have, do not need to envy and jealousy to others ('11 -'14). "And everything that you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus ..." (Colossians 3: 17a).
