For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest anyone should boast.
A heavyweight criminals sentenced to death. But before the death penalty carried out, the villain gets a presidential pardon which makes him free! Status "condemned" changed to "free"! These changes occur not because the criminals do good, but because the president wanted to confer the freedom of the villain.
The status of the church at Ephesus in God has changed: first death caused by the offense and sins, but now turned together Christ. Paul meant death condition is experienced separation from God and can not appreciate the spiritual judge actions because their minds are dark. They obey the devil to disobey God. As a result, they incurred the Wrath of God and perish. Paul also admitted that Jewish Christians was the same as the first Christian pagan origin, because they live in the will of the flesh and evil thoughts.
But God revealed grace and great mercy. They were rescued from the slavery of sin, death and the wrath of God by faith in Christ. In Christ, God raises those who are spiritually dead and give a noble residence and inheritance with Christ in heaven. That is changing their status. Changes that occur without human contribution at all, because no good deed can bring up to standard human salvation. Therefore no one can boast of salvation is a gift of God. Human safety it is not due to good works, but God provides a variety of good deeds for the people who have been saved. So the good deeds it is not a prerequisite of a safety, but rather thanksgiving for salvation.
Inspiration: Salvation is obtained only by the grace of God in Christ Jesus by faith. Therefore let us be grateful and to practice the good deeds for others.
