Therefore, do not let Sin reigns again in mortal flesh, that you may not longer obey her wishes. (Romans 6:12)

In the past, colonialism is associated with mastery over other countries through military force. Now, a new form of colonialism appeared in a more veiled. With the support of global power, a strong country master and set the other countries, for example through the economy or political system. So, the country was already independent from old colonialism can still be subjugated by foreign powers in different forms. For that, it takes a more fair world system.
Sin is similar to colonialism. In Christ, "our old man has shaped the crucified, so that the body of sin is lost his power, so that we do not devote themselves more to sin" (v. 6). We are set free from the power of sin and given new life: equipped to no longer live as servants of sin, but rather being able to harness the body's members as "weapons of righteousness" (v. 13). However, Paul also reminds, the Sin would not stay silent. He will attempt to rule again over our bodies, and tempt us to obey his wishes (v. 12). The sin of wanting to continue to colonize us.
To confront the power of sin, we need to experience the renewal of the mind. We hold fast to the truth that in Christ Jesus we are dead to sin, and now called to live for God (v. 11). The stronger our consciousness will of independence conferred upon us, the stronger also our ability to resist the temptation of sin. — ARS
