The Apostle Paul tells us about the death to the Thessalonians in order that they do not mourn as people who have no hope. Those who do not know Christ, consider death as a gruesome and scary thing. They don't know what happened to the people who died. Some people even think that the parents are going to be a spirit that can interfere with a person who is still alive.
Otherwise, for everyone believes there is a strong hope. When a believer dies, he gathered together to God (v. 14). Later, he will be resurrected and will celebrate the eternality of God (v. 16-17). The Lord Jesus Christ has proven that there is a resurrection of the dead. And our faith in whom that would give us hope that this is so.
Losing our loved ones must surely make us mourn. However, let us remember that they had with God and, one day later, we'll meet again in heaven. This truth will entertain people believing (v. 18). — HT
