Philip and the other disciples had been so long with Jesus but still have not been able to get to know who Jesus really is. They heard Jesus teach, saw Jesus perform miracles, interacting with Jesus, but do not have a correct understanding of who Jesus is. An intimate relationship with Jesus means building a relationship of friendship with Jesus where we can open our weakness to Him, our struggles, the secrets of our life, our successes. As a result, the life of Jesus is manifested in our lives, filled with wisdom, humility, sacrifice, serve.
The devil knows our weaknesses, he was trying to obscure the introduction to Jesus with success.
