The Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all readiness, and every day they searched the Scriptures to see if these things were so. (Acts 17:11)

Investigate the Truth - There are people who tend to be lazy, take for granted the sermon from the pulpit without ever examining the Scriptures personally. Instead, some church leaders are even trying to turn off the critical attitude: "I just believe, hear and do. Delayed obedience is tantamount to disobedience. "Both are equally extreme and unhealthy.
How should we respond to preaching? Berea case is an interesting example. Paul's ministry at that time already quite famous, and the Berea welcoming service. They received Paul's preaching with all readiness of mind-but if they ate it up? No! Examining the Scriptures to see if what Paul said in harmony with the teachings of truth. Is Paul annoyed, assume they are sassy, and denouncing them? Quite the contrary! They praised as "more noble than those in Thessalonica"!
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth (Jn. 16:13). Let us count on His help in understanding his words, both when studying the Bible personally or when listening to sermons or teaching someone. Next, ask the Holy Spirit to give wisdom to respond to these words in our daily lives. Thus, we will seriously grow in truth and knowledge of Tuhan.-ARS
