When Jesus died on the cross, the work of redemption that He has done for all mankind is perfect. Matthew, Mark and Luke says that Jesus cried out in a loud voice when he died, but the Apostle John added a detailed description of events at the time that when He cried Jesus said: "It is finished."
Jesus, a carpenter who are accustomed to buying and selling activities, use the term in the trade which we can define as "paid".
Already completed. Been paid in full.
Jesus completed His work that aims to bring us back into fellowship with God. No need for another business or work for it. We can not do anything to continue the work of Jesus, and even there it is like we can do, it does not need to do because it is clear that Jesus had it done for us.
This is the picture we can imagine: Jesus, because it has completed its mission perfectly, shouting shouts of victory. It is the cry that arises from a sense of joy - not the phrase "Thank God, all is over" but rather the joy of a good and faithful child who hears his father say, "It is finished now. Congratulations, huh, kid. "
Jesus responded by shouting, "It is finished." The victory has been achieved, the prisoners can return freely.
Then, as a symbol that the only way to return peace with God is now open, "the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom" (Mark 15:38; see also Matthew 27 and Luke 23).
It seems to know that Jesus said "It is finished" when he died on the cross with joy because he had completed his mission perfectly, and because of the victory he had achieved that can be given to us so that we as a prisoner is freed and can return fellowship with God can make our life more pleasing to Him, love Him more and work out our salvation with full responsibility.
Presumably infinite gratitude and joy of God fulfill our lives because of His death, our relationship with God is restored so that we can get back in fellowship with Him without any hindrance whatsoever. Jesus bless you!
"Because of all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell in Him, and by Him He reconciled all things to Himself, both in earth, or things in heaven, then, to make atonement by the blood of the cross of Christ." Colossians 1: 19- 20
